From The Cold War Era, US Officially Resigns With Russia

The US introduced on Friday it has officially withdrawn from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty with Moscow, putting a finish to a landmark arms control pact that has restricted the event of ground-based missiles with a range from 500 to 5,500 kilometers.

“Russia is solely answerable for the treaty’s demise,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated in an announcement on Friday saying the US’ formal withdrawal from the Cold-War period nuclear treaty.

Pompeo stated, “Russia did not return to full and verified compliance through the destruction of its noncompliant missile system.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated on Friday the termination of the treaty was at the initiative of Washington, Russian state news agency RIA-Novosti reported.

The US initially introduced in February that this might happen on August 2.

CNN reported on Thursday that the US navy is about to check a new non-nuclear mobile-launched cruise missile explicitly made to challenge Russia in Europe, based on a senior US defense official.

The test is predicted to happen in the next few weeks and can essentially be the Trump administration’s answer to Russia’s years-long non-compliance with the INF treaty, the senior US defense official mentioned.

A senior administration official advised reporters that the US can be testing the cruise missiles that have been forbidden by the INF treaty as a result of “Russia can not keep military advantage” however stated that it’s going to take years for the US to deploy those weapons.
